A while ago Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp all went down for the whole evening and I couldn’t believe the reaction we all had about losing social media for a few hours. In this blog post, I am going to talk about some realisations I came to in this black out.

What did we do before social media came into being?? Wow, I remember using our house landline to call my best friend. Landline, what is that?? When was the last time you actually called someone when it wasn’t a tradesman, internet provider or doctor?
It was at this time when I realised 2 major things.. Twitter is by far the superior social media platform and blogging is so important and just how much it has become a part of my life.
Whenever anything happens on the other platforms, it seems Twitter is the place to go because it is about as robust as granite. Nothing is going to take that one down. My link to my blogging friends was still intact and it was quite a relief. If you aren’t on Twitter, get on that!! And then go and give me a follow. I am so grateful to one of my favourite blogging friends to hooking me up on that.
It is in times like that, when I choose to go to another part of the world. My books. One of the best things I ever got was my kindle because I rarely leave the house without it. Once a book is on there, it’s there for life. No algorithm is going to mess with my reading time.

How can I not mention the realization of how important blogging has become to me and how the social media black out didn’t really phase me because I still had blogs to go to. I have been blogging for a year now and I cannot believe how much it has changed my life. Spending time researching, writing posts and reading other bloggers content is so much apart of my life now that it doesn’t feel right when I haven’t been present here for too long.
Not a usual post for me but I thought I would do a short and sweet post on what life was like for a few hours of facebook and instagram black out.
How did you find the social media black out?? Did you have a melt down or have some realisations of your own? I would love hear all about it
Until next time…

I totally agree with you about social media! I used to read books. TONS of books. And now I don’t anymore. I feel like my attention span has shortened greatly due to social media. But Twitter does seem to hold up better than the rest of them. I just followed you there!
