Hello wonderful people!! Today I was thinking of talking about the books I have been reading lately and some amazing writers I have found.
On the first of January I set myself a reading challenge on Goodreads of reading 20 books to read in the year. I never was much of a reader but in the last year I really started to enjoy it. 20 books seemed like a decent challenge to set but I am thinking I may need to up it. We’ll see!!
I started the year off by reading a 2 book series by a writer named Gay Yellen. I had never heard of her before but I got a recommendation from Fuzzy Librarian (signed up to their mailing list and they send book recommendations daily straight to your inbox). ‘The body business’ and ‘The body next door’ are what they called Cozy mystery novels and have that ‘can’t put this book down’ kind of feeling.
My sister sent me a book all the way from Australia by Monica McKinery (it was a signed copy) for my birthday. She had her own copy and this was my next book to read this year. We read it together and talked about what was going on which made the read even more enjoyable to have someone to share it with. ‘The Godmothers’ is an amazing book that has you laughing and crying throughout, sometimes within the same chapter. Have the tissues near by and enjoy this masterpiece.

Can you say you are friends with a published author?? I actually can 🙂 I reconnected with an old high school friend who became a successful writer and started reading her novels. Her name is Tess Shepherd. She has written 3 books so far and I have devoured 2 of them already.

Growing up with her and knowing this was one of her greatest dreams feels me with pride just that I know her. Her books are such feel good novels that leave you satisfied and at the same time excited to start another. I signed up to her ARC list and got to read the first book of her 3 book series, the Dungeness series, before it was released. I gotta tell you it’s really worth it.
There’s nothing quite like a trashy romance novel is there? Sometimes we just need something that doesn’t take much to read and is feel good and trashy. At the moment I am reading ‘On the edge’ by Brittany Sahin, the first book in her ‘Dublin nights’ series. My nightly read is so enjoyable!!!
Those are some of the writers I have found this year and I have to say I am loving them.
Tell me about some of your favourite writers that you have found recently. I’d love to hear all about them and I’m always up for some recommendations.
Until next time…

Hi if you have any interest in fantasy novels I highly recommend Leigh Bardugo, her grisha trilogy are actually being turned into a series which will be on Netflix soon so I’m excited!
Great thank you for the recommendation Brendan ☺️
