This is part 2 of my TV series, movies and books series. Here, I want to share some amazing movies I have watched and cannot get enough of.
You might enjoy – Binge worth TV shows
Devil wears Prada
I have watched this film probably 50 times. Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway really brings the fashion industry to life. There is nothing better than Meryl Streep’s look and “That’s all!” moments in the film. I never get tired of this film.
Hidden Figures
This award winning film is about the African American women who worked at NASA in the 60s. These incredible women were absolutely essential in the success of the launch and the mission to put the first man on the moon. Based on a true story.
Jackie
The story of Jackie Kennedy following the assassination of JFK and the aftermath of the event. Natalie Portman does an incredible job depicting the First Lady and her reaction to the death of her husband.
Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
What a beautiful film this is.. A London writer goes to Guernsey the year following the end of WWII, an island that was occupied by German throughout the war. There she meets a British society that discuss books they have read and look after each other.
Darkest Hour
The story of Winston Churchill during WWII and his role as Prime Minister during war time and the decisions he had to make for the greater good. Gary Oldman won an Academy award for his incredible depiction of Churchill. A truly amazing movie worth watching.
I sense a theme in these movies.. Can you see it? What is my favourite kind of film??
The Imitation Game
Benedict Cumberbatch depicts the life of Alan Turing and his work cracking the enigma code used by the Germans in WWII. A true story and beautifully made. At the end of the film you find out that Alan Turing receives a medal for his contributions to winning the war and it took all the way to 2013 before he was recognised because of his sexual orientation, being a homosexual during that time was highly illegal. I am glad that even though he had already died, his contributions have been recognised.
The Circle
This movie is about complete transparency in life. Emma Watson stars in this interesting and thought provoking movie.
How to train your dragon trilogy
Yes I love animated movies. How can I leave off Toothless and Hiccup? This trilogy is a truly feel good, happy and innocent set of movies.
Small Foot
Another animated film. I have to tell you, if you haven’t seen it, you should!! It’s hilarious. Yetis being afraid of the ‘small foot’ (humans) and 1 brave one willing to embark beyond the cloud to find out more.
There are some thought provoking, funny and war time films I have watched that I cannot recommend enough. Tell me some of your favourite films..
Until next time…
